Black Olive Jam

Okay - I just recently fell back in love with this stuff!! It is like a little piece of heaven for your mouth!!! Andres Black Olive Jam..... oh my. While I was visiting with my Aunt in the Central Coast last month we came across this little jar of heaven again. I bought one months ago on my last visit. It is amazing - we like to pile it on whipped cream cheese and then spread it on a sliced baguette. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! We picked it up at Muzio's Grocery in San Luis Obispo (yummy sandwiches and the best cheese ever) but check out their site and see where you can get it. Just like heaven!

Summer Camping and picnics

Well, it is almost that time of year again- Summer! It's time to get outside and camp, picnic, hike or whatever you are into.

We went camping this weekend, and realized that when we do we bring so many things with us that are packaged and are one time use items. In an effort to make our summer trips less taxing on the environment we decided to make some changes for the better. We will now have a large designated trash can in the center of camp for recycling bottles and cans- so many get tossed in with the regular trash! We also will be using compostable and biodegradable plates and utensils- I love the BAMBU line - cute and compostable! So do yourself and the environment a favor this summer when you camp or even picnic remember to recycle and to use products that have a low impact on the environment!

World Environment Day

I just visited the United Nations Environment Program webpage and discovered another way to show everyone how important Climate change is to us!  On June 5th we will be celebrating World Environment Day!  Please visit their site for tips and ideas on how you can do your part www.unep.org .  Pass this along to get others involved!

My Sparrow inspired by Paris

On my recent trip to Paris I was once again inspired by the city!  I love to walk in the city- it always is a little different to me- different enough to make me want to return again and again.  I love to see the parks, the shops, the small courtyards of the apartment buildings, the boulangeries, and the markets- the markets make me want to move from sunny California to this enchanting place.  It is here that I see how we all should be living with fresh food on the table everyday or taking in the sun along the Seine, having long dinners with friends, great food and great wine.  I always return with a need to create and feeling overwhelmingly inspired to live a better- simpler life.  It is this inspiration that brought me to create My Sparrow- a place where we can bring the old and the new together and remember to enjoy each other and our lives as they are meant to be enjoyed!

Okay love these!!! I have seen them mentioned here and there in the past but when I saw a girl with one at the flea market this weekend I decided to check it all out!

Flea Market- Irvine Valley

Today we went to the streets with our site launch promotion! We had a space at the monthly flea market held at Irvine Valley College (it's on the first Sunday of every month). What a great day!
