I am curious...

do you have chickens?  I really want them and i am curious about them...
When I was young my dad had them... I loved them...

I think I may have my husband warming to the idea but I am wondering if I should push on.

What do you think?  What do you know?

I would love to hear!

  2. Although I am waiting to get my 'new' flock, I have kept chickens on my backyard for years. I only keep 5 or 6 hens [roosters scare the dickens out of me] they are wonderful. From the moment you get the little fluffballs you will be mesmorized..mine will follow me all over the yard, eat all sorts of insects I hate, dig around your garden to loosten the soil and last but not least there is something VERY good for the soul to go in the coop and gather your freshly laid eggs for breakfast !! I keep them around for about 5 years [they become pets]. My favorites are Silver Laced Wyandottes..so so beautiful and good natured.
Go ahead and try it, you won't be disappointed.

  4. I've had chooks for years, in just a normal urban backyard, they are lovley in everyway. The kids like to hold & pat them, they are super low maintainace, they have fabulous persolalities AND they give you eggs. I like the Australorps as egg layers (they have lovely big eyes & black irradecent feathers), arucannas (cause they look silly & lay green/blue eggs) and peakins because they are SO cute.
