Anthropologie and Man Shops Globe

I know this is currently being splashed all over right now- I heard about this exciting new show that will be on the Sundance Channel about a month ago but could not find info on it - yeah! Today it was on Pink Monkey and Design*Sponge yesterday. "Man Shops Globe" is a series about the buyer for Anthropologie, Keith Johnson. I am so excited to see where he finds all of those amazing things that I always love when I walk in the store.

A little background on him from Sundance...."Keith Johnson's passion for art, antiques and travel emerged in childhood as he accompanied his father, an art dealer, on excursions through Europe. His current role as Anthropologie's buyer-at-large is driven by Johnson's early experiences and boundless curiosity. He spends most of the year abroad in search of decorative antiques and found objects to be sold in Anthropologie stores and serve as inspiration for in-house design, as well as gifted artisans to create original works."

The first episode is October 7th on the Sundance Channel at 10 pm. Check it out!

They do custom invitations, have seed cards (that is cards with seeds embedded in them so you can plant them after you read your lovely note), great little notebooks and all kinds of invitations and stationary; and it is all Eco friendly. Not only am I in love with their stuff their blog is cool too. Is is okay to secretly want to be friends with someone you don't know?? Check them out here!

Happy Monday....

I am so excited to be home and to share all of the fun things I found with you!!!  (Soon!)  Have a good morning!

Gap 0% Plastic reusable bag..

So have you jumped on the reusable shopping bag wagon yet? Well, it was one of the first changes that I made when going "green" and I realized this weekend how important it was. I have been in the Central Coast this weekend and shopping quite a lot (he he) for food and otherwise and I did not bring a single reusable bag with me- so so sad. The number of plastic bags that are handed out is enough to make me sick!! So let me get to the point here... While shopping at GAP on the way up I noticed something, they offer 10% off your entire purchase when you bring in their reusable shopping tote. It is a super bargain and pretty cute for 2.00 you can save a bunch if you like the GAP. I am so excited to see them encouraging people to use their reusable bags while shopping retail.
This bag is for everyone and I would encourage you to buy one today or take any bag in with you when buying at all stores for food, clothes, shoes - anywhere!!

Blog hopping... Deisgn Crush and Miss Ruby Sue

This week I have not had much time to blog no less blog hop so when I set out to get some goods tonight, I went to one of my favorite sites for inspiration.. The Benevolent Postcard Society. In the listing on the side is the group of people who exchange cards and this is exactly where I found Design Crush which led me to Miss Ruby Sue... Fun Fun Fun!!

She has some really great stuff to share... beautiful pictures and fun quotes too!

See I did not know that she was so popular... Miss Ruby Sue's pieces have been featured on multiple shows and are favorites among celebrities! Each piece is a hand made piece of art.

Remnants of the Past Fall show...

Put this on your calendar!! Remnants of the Past is having their fall show on October 10th at the Dana Powers Barn in Nipomo, CA. It is a really great show with a great group of vendors! I am so sad that I will not be able to go this year- but you should go if you are in the area!

They bring together all of the amazing things that I am searching out at the flea markets, and the best part is that is all in one place. Last year I purchased a wonderful bottle carrier for myself and some engraved pumpkins. If you have a chance check out the information for their show here..

If you attend the show I would love to hear all about it!

I was going to post all about fall, but I am in love with this new piece from Gary Heller so I am cheating.   This is the Hamerkop bird from Africa,  the soft greys against the coloring of the back ground make it so cool and refreshing- gotta have one!

Check out this piece and his other work on Etsy here.

Dreaming of Paris...

I am so missing the city and the shopping!

Paris: Made by Hand..

This is a copy of my post from a while back on Team Snob book blog... I wanted to share...

Okay- I just picked up this book today and I love it! In her introduction to the book she sums up the reason that I love Paris- "A designers muse, a decorator's heaven, and a treasure trove for a stylist: Paris may very well be the one of the last remaining international cities that strives to protect and nurture her artisans." I am always inspired by these little slightly larger than pocket sized travel books. They offer you something to tweak your interest on a visit to the beautiful city of Paris- something other than the regular museums and parks (which I also love) some really amazing shopping!! I simply love to shop in Paris, it has exactly what she says, a chance to view the world through the eyes of some of the most creative minds available.

The New Terrarium

Have you ever killed an indoor plant? I have- it is so sad... but there is another way- the terrarium. This is a fun easy way to keep your indoor plants happy. I started making these a while back when I kept killing the orchids that I was buying. When they are under glass they can get the moisture that they crave. I just made a bunch of them for SEED People's Market and they are so fun! Here is a look at one of my favorite books on the subject The New Terrarium by Tovah Martin.

In this book she gives you tips and a wealth of information on what works and what doesn't in the world of the Terrarium. There are great photos and ideas- I just love it! It is the perfect way to bring a little green into your home or office with little maintenance and a lot of enjoyment!

A few of my favorite things..

Here are a few of my favorite things that I wanted to share with you... Don't know if you wanted to know but I am telling you...

My favorite reusable shopping bag from Pretty Green Bag- perfect for any type of shopping groceries and at the mall! And they are made with organic fabrics in the USA- just perfect!

Tolix pieces- I am a sucker for these French chairs. I have them all over my house- they are the perfect chair for my kids virtually indestructible!

My Sophie Conran dishes- such an organic feeling- I love using the all white set- I have the bake ware (which is so fantastic) and all of the serving pieces- you can easily dress them up or down so versatile!

No Doubt- my favorite band of all time!

What are some of your favorite things??

Rae Dunn on Etsy and elsewhere..

So I have loved ceramics made by Rae Dunn for a long time- but I have just found out that she sells original hand made pieces on Etsy. Umm- where have I been?? I have a few of her little mugs that say "inspire" and "create" that we use for the kids hot cocoa and the dogs food bowls are from her line but they are not from her hand made collection, they are from her collaboration with Magenta. Now I desperately need an item from her Etsy shop!! Check out some of her pieces below and be sure to visit her blog and her website too! So very inspiring I love hand made ceramic dishes and objects!

Le Pain Quotidien...

So I discovered this little gem on my first visit to Paris while my friend was living in bliss in the city. It was our first lunch stop on that faithful trip.. Mint Tea and a Grilled Chicken & Smoked Mozzarella with arugula & basil pesto Tartine- the perfect meal after a cramped flight from California to Paris. I can just picture it now sitting at their big communal pine tables listening to the women speak French and watching their little and big dogs sit quietly under the table while they ate. Since that trip I have been back to Paris twice and eaten here countless times including picking up their amazing Pain au Chocolat for a quick snack or breakfast. We have also visited locations in New York, London and Los Angeles- always the same wonderful Organic food and amazing baked goodies! So that is why I wanted to share this little gem with you- and of course my other favorite thing about it is their organic blueberry jam- ummmm! I have just finished my last jar that we brought back from London- so sad. :(

Visit their website here to see if there is a location near you or somewhere that you are going. A definite must for at least lunch or breakfast! And don't forget to bring home some of their jam and a baguette to eat it with! Enjoy!
